The AAA Hoosier Motor Club, was organized in 1902 as the "Flat Tire Club". Originally social in nature, it conducted goodwill tours, hill-climbing contests, etc. In 1911, it was reorganized by a group of prominent businessmen who changed the name to Hoosier Motor Club. The Club affiliated with the American Automobile Association in 1917.
